Product Description
Polyamino Polyether Methylene Phosphonic Acid (PAPEMP)
CAS 130668-24-5 - Advanced water treatment chemical for industrial applications
Primary Applications
PAPEMP is widely used across multiple industries due to its exceptional scale and corrosion inhibition properties:
Application Area Specific Uses
Industrial Cooling Water Scale and corrosion inhibitor in circulating cooling water systems, particularly effective in high hardness, high alkalinity, and high pH conditions. Enables high-concentration-ratio operation for water conservation.
Membrane Systems (RO/NF) Effective membrane scale inhibitor for reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) systems to prevent scaling on membrane surfaces.
Desalination Scale control in thermal desalination processes like Multi-Stage Flash (MSF) distillation at high temperatures and salt concentrations. Can reduce or eliminate acid feed requirements.
Oilfield Water Treatment Scale control in oilfield refill water systems operating under high temperatures and pressures.
Other Industrial Uses Peroxide stabilizer and chelating agent in textile and dyeing applications (as yellowing inhibitor) and papermaking additive. Often used as alternative to EDTA, DTPA, and NTA.
Usage and Compatibility
  • Dosage: Typical range of 5 to 100 mg/L, depending on water quality and system requirements. Performance often improves with higher dosage levels.
  • Synergistic Effects: Excellent compatibility when combined with other water treatment chemicals including polymers like AA/AMPS (Acrylic acid/2-Acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid copolymer) and phosphonates like HPAA (Hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid) or ATMP (Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid).
Handling, Safety, and Storage
Safety: As an acidic product, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves and goggles. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, flush immediately with plenty of water.
Storage: Store in cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Shelf life of 10-12 months when properly stored in sealed plastic containers (25kg, 250kg drums, or IBC totes).
