Descrizione di prodotto
Reverse Osmosis Scale Inhibitor
Water treatment chemicals for reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, and ultrafiltration systems
Application Methods
The application method depends on system condition and treatment objectives. Choose from these primary approaches:
Method Description Typical Dosage Best Application
Continuous Dosing Bactericide is injected into feed water stream using metering pump during RO system operation Low concentrations (3-20 ppm) to continuously inhibit microbial growth Systems with low to moderate biofouling risk, as preventative measure
Intermittent / Shock Dosing Higher concentration added for short period (30-60 minutes) while system runs, with product water diverted to drain Higher concentrations (100-600 ppm) to kill colonizing microorganisms Systems with periodic biological growth concerns
Off-Line / Cleaning (CIP) RO system taken offline, with cleaning solution containing high bactericide concentration circulated through membranes High concentrations (400-800 ppm) circulated for extended period (45 minutes to 4 hours) Severe biofouling situations or system sanitization before shutdown
Key Selection Criteria
When choosing RO bactericides, consider these essential properties for effectiveness and system safety:
  • Broad-Spectrum Efficacy: Effective against wide range of microorganisms including aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, fungi, and algae
  • Membrane Compatibility: Must be compatible with specific RO membrane types (thin-film composite or cellulose acetate) to prevent chemical damage
  • Biofilm Removal: Some bactericides feature stripping or penetrating properties to loosen and remove existing biofilm from membrane surfaces and system components
  • Environmental Profile: Many modern bactericides are biodegradable, breaking down into harmless byproducts for environmental safety
Safety and Precautions
RO bactericides are industrial chemicals requiring careful handling:
  • Corrosive Nature: Most are acidic (pH often below 5) and can cause severe skin and eye burns. Always wear appropriate PPE including chemical-resistant gloves and goggles
  • Chemical Incompatibilities: Some non-oxidizing bactericides can be deactivated by certain chemicals. For example, DBNPA is rendered ineffective by reducing agents like sodium bisulfite. Other products may be incompatible with chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, or dissolved iron and manganese in feed water
